FAQs
What is the cost for a class and what does it cover?
An obedience class meets for one hour, once a week, for 6 weeks. The cost of a class varies for group versus private lessons and changes depending on the class location. Group lessons held at Top Dog Training School are $85. It will train your dogs attention span, develop its self control, and teach you and your dog the proper voice, and body language techniques for learning obedience commands.
I think my dog is crazy; I can not get it to settle down and stop destroying things. Would obedience classes help?
Obedience training exercises your dog’s attention and self control. It also puts you in the leadership position with your dog. These are the two most important parts to correcting out of control behavior. Some behavior problems do need other actions such as more exercise, or better controls at home which would be assessed in a one-on-one consultation.
Where are you located, and what are the directions to get there?
Top Dog Training is located in Broken Arrow, just off of Elm Pl on 128th St. There is easy access from the Creek Turnpike, Elm Place exit. Go south 1 mile and turn left onto 128th St. We are only 10-15 minutes from north BA, Tulsa, Bixby, and Coweta.
How old does my dog need to be to attend a class?
Puppies need to be at least 10-12 weeks of age. Dogs entering a basic obedience class are 6 months or older. Adult dogs enter the basic obedience class. Any age can enter intermediate level class if skills are ready. Puppy preschool and puppy headstart are available for pups under 10 weeks as private lessons. All dogs need to be current on vaccinations or started on a puppy series.
Can you help my dog to stop (biting, jumping, being scared, pooping in the house)?
Yes. There are techniques available to correct behavior problems in addition to obedience training. I would conduct a behavioral assessment for you and your dog at your home to assess the dog in its home environment. We will discuss all the details of its daily routine, living arrangements, behavior patterns and problems, as well as what you would like to see change. I provide a summary report and lay out a plan for correcting the bad behavior, training the dog, and making any necessary changes to the dogs daily routine.
Do you do private lessons at my house?
Yes, I can do private obedience or behavior management lessons at your home. There are some limits on the distance I travel. I can also have private lessons at the Top Dog facility.
